The Internet Marketing Swipe File

The best way to learn about marketing yours and other people’s products is to learn from others. As its name suggests a swipe file is a place to store any information that you have ‘swiped’ from other peoples websites, or any other information that they produce.

The idea of a swipe file is to use it just like a scribble pad. All PCs come with a small program called notepad.exe that produces simple text files with no formatting. When you visit another Internet Marketing website you can use this file to store techniques, headlines and email marketing messages in that have been written by other Internet Marketers.

Create a few different swipe files for different marketing ideas. Have a file for amazing headlines, a sales letter file and an email message file. The swipe file is more like a brainstorming or 'thinking out of the box' notepad, its not for republication or distribution as that would be plain theft, its rather like having a box full of ideas that you can rebuild and rehash.

Visit their sales pages, read their email broadcasts and visit their blogs. You will soon get a great feel of what needs to be said. You could store all your ideas in one place, but why not categorize them in to a few files for the different marketing needs:
